About Jennifer Fitzsimmons
Jennifer was born and raised in Stark County and has dedicated her entire career to serving the community she calls home. A graduate of GlenOak High School, Jennifer earned her undergraduate degree from Ohio University and her law degree from Thomas M. Cooley School of Law.
Jennifer began her legal career in the Canton City Prosecutor’s Office, first serving as a Trial Coordinator and intern before being appointed as an Assistant Prosecutor. She later became the Domestic Violence Prosecutor, working closely with the Domestic Violence Collaborative to protect victims and hold offenders accountable. Her leadership and courtroom experience led to her promotion to Senior Trial Counsel, where she handled complex criminal cases and appeals and ultimately to Chief Assistant Prosecutor.
As Chief Assistant Prosecutor, Jennifer trained local police departments on the most up-to-date laws and procedures and was appointed as a Special Prosecutor in several Northeast Ohio courts, including the Stark County Court of Common Pleas.
Nearly six years ago, Jennifer expanded her service to Stark County by becoming Chief Deputy for the Stark County Clerk of Courts. In this role, she works closely with the General and Family Courts, helping oversee daily operations and leading efforts to streamline filings and modernize court systems.
With more than 30 years of hands-on and instutional experience in the Stark County court system, Jennifer is known as a tough but fair prosecutor who never backs down from difficult cases. She has earned the respect of law enforcement, attorneys, and court professionals throughout Stark County — and remains committed to ensuring a justice system that works efficiently, fairly, and with integrity for everyone.
